BISTEK (BEEFSTEAK FILIPINO)

Serves 4

Ingredients
1 1/4 pounds sirloin, thinly sliced
1 large white onion, sliced
1/3  cup soy sauce
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oilJuice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon freshly ground black peppercorns

Directions
In a small bowl make a marinade by mixing the soy sauce, lemon juice, and oil.

Pound the beef steaks with a food mallet to make the steaks thinner and tender when cooking.  Cut the steaks into serving pieces. Sprinkle each side of the steak with pepper. Put into a bowl then add the marinade. Mix well.

Heat a big pan to medium-high, add 2 tablespoons of oil and  fry the white onions until wilted but still crispy. Transfer to a plate.

Cook the steaks in the pan in batches not crowding the pan for 2 minutes on each side. Transfer to a plate.

Put back the cooked onions in the pan and push around to the side of the pan. Next add the cooked steaks. Drizzle the remaining marinade. Arrange the steaks on a serving dish. Add the onions on top.

*Serve immediately
